I suspect that monogamous people and polyamorous people engage in one night
stands with approximately the same frequency.  My own experience is that
poly people are more likely to have one-time sex with people we know than
with strangers, which, in some ways, puts it out of the realm of what
mundanes think of as 'one night stands'.

I'm poly because I can and do love multiple people.  I may also have sex
with people who are not my current romantic partners.
