Maybe we  should give the benefit of the doubt to the referenced "other 
defenders" of  polyamory.  It's entirely possible that these "defenders" said 
something  along the lines of 
"polyamory does not equal promiscuity"...and that the  reporter, or the 
editor, reworked it to say what they wanted it to say.  It  wouldn't be the first 
time that someone's words were inaccurately  reported.  

Of course, it's also entirely possible that the  "defenders" made the claim 
as reported.  But we don't really know.
