Re: Promiscuity Bashing WAS: Re: [UUPoly-L] poly & pop culture

A couple of years ago, at the East Coast Poly conference, Brad Blanton, author of Radicle Honesty said in his Key note address (addressing some 150 Polys): "You guys are the research and development arm of society".

The implied connection between polyamory and promiscuity reflects some of the puritan bias in our culture. This comes from both secular puritans and religious puritans. The puritan cluture does not like sex , does not like women, and wants to coerce its rules onto everyone else.
Consider even Bill Clinton, who immediately fired surgeon general Jocelyn Elders for saying masturbation was a healthy alternative to exposure to aids.
Or the laughable George W. Bush who will only agree to federal funding for "abstainence only" sex education in American schools.
Polyamory folks are pioneers in our culture who act like an alternative way of looking at love and sexuality may be an upgrade.
