Consider it from another point of view.  I didn't come out of one  closet 
(I'm poly) just to be forced into another closet (it's unacceptable to  say that 
I'm not promiscuous).  
 
We want people around us to let us open poly closet doors.  So let's  also 
let people around us open those "inside the community" closet  doors.  Whether 
they are the "I am x" or "I'm not x" sort of closets.
