Hi Group,
I'd like to address some of the questions, remarks that came up about LDS
(Mormon) religion & women.
First of all, I'm not sure if most of you realize that there is a huge
difference between RLDS, FLDS & LDS - Reorganized is the R-where people
broke off from the original group with Joseph Smith & Brigham Young - who
(that group),I understand DON'T practice polygamy & never did. The F is
Fundamentalist which again are a break off from the LDS (Mormon) Church &
DO practice polygamy, apparently why they broke off from the original part
of the church. The LDS CHurch did at one time practice polygamy but no
longer do & excommunicate anyone who does.
That said; I was raised in the LDS Church & have been completely active
within the church for over 40+ years. I'm an energy therpist & have
treated polygamist women & they do seem to be greatly surpressed & many in
very negative energy. Some willingly - some not.
In the mainstream church, women who are 'dominate'in their personalities
or roles are not by the 'church leaders' specifically ignored & they ARE
allowed in leadership positions (or I would never have served in the
positions within the church that I served in) BUT -
notice the BUT here, please - women aren't allowed to hold the Priesthood
& are asked to (covenant to) "adhere to" their husbands leadership as
their husbands "adhere to the Lord's". It is also LDS church teaching that
Men are NOT to practice unrightous dominion & that supressing or trying to
control anyone, is 'unrightous dominion'! NOTICE: The women themselves are
at choice as to whether to make these covenants or not!!
I chose to make those covenants with my husband, he has always treated me
with love, gentleness & NEVER tried to subdue, control or suppress me in
anyway. In fact, the reason we are connected up with a polymory group is
that I DESIRED to learn more about multiple partners for BOTH sexs & we do
chose to live in an atmosphere where we BOTH have the choice of other
partners (male or female)!! We believe that the control of anyone against
their will is wrong.
Hope this doesn't come across as a preaching session - just wanted to
clear a few things up!
THanks for allowing me to.
Debbie
