?Everything from Mild to Wild!?
Polyamorists, Swingers and SM-Leather-Fetish Enthusiasts to Converge in Seattle
Herndon, Virginia ? Everything from Mild to Wild! That?s this year?s theme of Building Bridges: Share Our Similarities, Celebrate Our Differences, the national conference that The Institute for 21st Century Relationships ? the Foundation of the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom is planning for October 13-15, 2006, at the Red Lion Inn in Bellevue, Washington.
But don?t be fooled ? there?s more to this event than one might think. Planned keynote speeches topics are ?America?s Fidelity Crisis?, "Singing the Praises of Sex Positivity", and ?You're Different, Just Like Me: Solidarity Through Diversity.? Preconference seminars include such provocative titles as ?FLIRT SLUT! Proactive Flirting for Emotional Exhibitionists? and ?Shelter from Sexual Shame - Toward A Joyful Sexuality.? Conference programs run the gamut from ?Getting Real - Practicing Honesty in Relationships? to ?Sex ? Courtesan Style? to ?Pointers for Kinky Parents?, to ?Making Peace with Jealousy? to ?The Biochemistry of Love.?
Other offerings include programs of benefit to researchers, sex educators, counselors and therapists, including continuing education credit and researcher-related programs presented by the Community-Academic Consortium for Research on Alternative Sexualities (CARAS).
Activism is a significant focus amongst attendees who have much to say about societal biases against alternative families and sexual expression. Building Bridges has been recognized by the Society for Human Sexuality with a national award, calling it, ?superb both as an educational event and as a networking event.?
On the milder side, Cuddle Party creators Reid Mihalko and Marcia Baczynski will host their innovative communication workshop/social laboratory designed to teach adults how to foster more welcomed touch and nonsexual intimacy in their lives that has grown into a global phenomenon. On the wilder side, adult-only erotic parties are planned both for swinger/lifestylers and SM-Leather-Fetish enthusiasts.
Conference organizers say their conference is an educational, social, recreational, and networking event that expressly seeks to bring together members of various sexual minority groups and alternative lifestyle communities who experience oppression and intolerance because of their non-traditional relationship configurations and sexual expression. They come together to learn, connect, play, socialize, and mutually support each other.
