Re: [UUPoly-L] Thank you Desmond Ravenstone

Well, you could have one such as you describe, but it would be very
different than what I was usuing as the triangle chart/two axis
description.

I was discussing a chart which shows the two-axis continuum of the
agreement of romantic relationships insofar as being open to
additional sex and additional love. Cheating would not fall anywhere
in my suggestion, because it is not part of the agreement.
Additionally, I don't think it's fair to say that cheaing is halfway
to swinging, personally, so even if you wanted to chart something
different than what I wanted to chart, I would suggest rethinking that
particular idea.

I would see the midpoint of the monogamy to polyfidelity side being
relationships that allow only one primary but allows secondaries, but
allows no casual sex, as the relationship is not fully open to other
love on the same level as the primary relationship. I would picture
the halfway point between monogamy and swinging to be a relationship
where someone is allowed to be physical but not have sex with others -
say it's OK for someone to make out with someone at a party or at a
club.

I like your triangle proposal. Each corner having one of the following: monogamist, polyamory, and swinging. What would a midpoint on each axis look like. I can see half way between monogamist and swinging as being cheating. Half way between swinging and polyamory are close swinging friends. But between monogamist and polyamory? Is it the discussion stage or agreeing and looking?

I think it would be a useful discussion tool, as John U said, to discuss the theoretical side of having multi partners arrangements. And as we have all found, however, being in the head is quiet different than being in the heart.
