I have dated people who were married but had not been sexually involved with
their spouses for some time...in one case, it had been several years with no
expectation that it would change.  In the other, it was "I'm not having sex
with you any more" getting said usually 2-3 times a year, and lasting for
between one and three months, without it necessarily being clear whether or
not this was a short term or long term thing.

Because the people were married and cohabitting, the relationships have been
and are still treated as ongoing relationships that would "count" for the
Morning Glory Zell definition of poly.

I have an ex-lover who is still a member of my chosen family, but he's my
ex-lover.  I don't know why that is the definition,  it just *is*.  But for
my former lovers who I am still friends with are usually people that I just
refer to as "friends".
