Hmmm... I really dislike the sound of it, but it is a useful word.  I think,
at this point it's usefulness is limited by the fact that most people are
likely to be unfamiliar with the term, but that's something that can be
resolved through repeated usage.  I mean, look at how many people recognize
"polyamory" now.  Until it reaches common usage, you may have to define it.
A term that I've used in the past to describe my role may be helpful in that
case, "support parent", as people generally catch on pretty quickly as to
what I mean in context.  So you may have to say, "my alloparent, or 'support
parents'..." for a while until folks start to get it. 

Now, is that pronounced "All-o-parent" with a long a as in Alley or with a
short a as in All?
