[UUPoly-L] Ally's requests for thoughts...

I have to agree (and thought of this in fact even as I
was typing,
before).
In fact our truckers and former truckers (on
polyfamilies.com) are
among the
more thoughtful and erudite. Lots of time to think, I
would guess.
The interesting dilemma here is that, because we tend
to be
professionals
and academics (etcetera), we are often in fields where
there is a lot
at
stake in coming out. On the one hand there is perhaps
a free-thinking
bent
that gets us into these relationships, but on the
other hand there is a
strong conservative bent to these fields as well that
would keep us in
the
closet about them.
Any thoughts?
Ally
To which I can only reply, "my thoughts _exactly_,
being in _exactly_ that position in a relatively
conservative area." I don't yet have any thoughts
about what can be done about it, and I am not secure
enough in my job (a health profession, ironically I
also drove over the road for two years) to be at all
willing (yet) to risk coming fully out of the closet.
For that matter, only a few of our UU congregation are
"on" to the fact that we are a committed triad, that
small number includes our wonderful minister. I'm
definitely following this conversation, even though I
may not participate much at the moment (busy trying to
be secure in my job, or find other employment, and
hosting "get out the vote" calling parties).
Be well--
Anne
