I totally understand why this program series wants a straight couple
(mainstream appearing) with one or more kids as the centerpiece of
their story, rathner than a complex poly community web of
folks. They want something that Mr and Mrs mainstream America can
relate to or even project themselves into, something that is not so
"far out" even on the surface.
Also, I don't know about this program, but I would suggest that you
exercise caution in responding. A couple I know (not a poly
couple/family, but a couple who had an unusual lifestyle)
participated as "real people" in a somewhat similar program. They
were even shown the footage that the program presumably was going to
broadcast, but the actual broadcast was quite different and they felt
betrayed and deceived because certain parts of the segment that did
get broadcast made them look really foolish.
So, if you think you'd be good folks to be their poly couple, by all
means get in touch with these people. Hopefully, they are not at all
like that other program, but do be careful. It is perfectly
reasonable (before you sign on with them) to ask to speak directly
with some of the other families they've featured, who were, according
to the program people, treated respectfully and fairly, and who
presumably were satisfied or better with the portrayal made of them
in the final broadcast. In other words, do your homework before
jumping into this.
