 Back in the early 1980s we had a vehement Republican in our Richmond VA congregation (along with the atheist minister).
 
 I think there is some support for the Libertarian end of Republican thought -- the real resistance is to the Religious Right.
 
 But you do have to stick up for yourself!

It is my belief, based on 50+ years in UU circles, and
nearly that long as a poly, that one will find no hostility
to atheists, indifference to polys, and vehement rejection
of people who disagree with the UU/Ted Kennedy/Democratic
Party position on anything.  To gain acceptance in a UU
group I suggest you keep your political views to yourself
and be discrete and leisurely about sharing your poly
lifestyle.  This is said with the sincere hope that in time
the long-standing UU acceptance of alternative religious
views will extend to alternative political views.
