[UUPoly-L] Last post on this and Happy Holidays

Greetings group.

Thank you for all of the replies to my post, both pro and con. Well, mostly con.

First off, I want to apologize for my stereotyping. I assumed that most of the women on this discussion group were UU's. I found that in my
experience with hundreds, if not thousands, of UU women, not to mention my wife, almost all of them were fierce feminists and vociferously
anti-porn and against the exploitation of women for sexual purposes. However, I see now that's not the case here. I was wrong and admit it.

While I am not sure why there were so many definitions and links to dictionaries/thesaurus on that one post, most of them failed to answer my
point for those who argue for the pornification of our country.

1. Why is it that in countries such as the Netherlands, Germany, UK, Sweden, Norway, France, Finland, Russia and others where sex, prostitution
and abortions are the norm that they have the lowest birth rates of all countries, with the exception of Japan?

Again, I don't need a bunch of links or studies to prove my point, just good old empirical data. I submit that due to the unrealistic portrayal of women,
their objectification as nothing but sexual creatures and the prevalence of so much porn (internet and print) that the boys/men just don't need the
hassle of a relationship when they can have it all online without playing the courting game.

Also, I never said that porn was invented by Hugh Hefner or the internet. Read my post, please. I simply stated that these two were the main
vehicles for the proliferation of porn in our society.

So, that's all for me on this in the public postings. Please feel free to email me personally to continue this discussion off-line.

Take it easy and have a Merry Christmas, Solstice or whatever you celebrate.

I leave you with this:

A new study from the Rand Corporation in the journal Pediatrics provides fresh evidence that children suffer from extensive exposure to songs with raunchy lyrics. Invariably, across all races and among both boys and girls, listening to degrading lyrical content that treated women as sex objects led to more irresponsible sexual behavior, commencing at earlier ages. Sleazy songs today provide a daily soundtrack for the lives of millions of vulnerable kids, and this material, combined with video games, movies and TV, combine to give teenagers a sense of what's normal, and what's "hip" --while sending the unmistakable message that kids who lead more disciplined lives are missing out on all the fun. Pediatrics urges parents to become more aggressive in monitoring their children's music, and to discuss some of the omnipresent sexual messages in society at large.
