In comparing societies where pornography is and isn't
permitted, it is seen that actual violence against women and
limitation of women's opportunities is much more prevalent
in societies that do not permit pornography.
I don't know for sure what you mean by 'debasement' and
'degradation' but I think that people who make porn, and
make it highly available, are probably doing some form of
public service in keeping women safe and empowered. I could
be wrong about the direction of causality - perhaps the
presence of safe and empowered women somehow encourages the
production of porn, or perhaps some third variable as yet
unidentified contributes to both trends.
But although my personal desire for porn (especially movie
porn) is quite low, I am pleased to be part of a society
that keeps women relatively safe and empowered, and
therefore pleased to see its availability.
