Re: [UUPoly-L] GA07

I'm working on my schedule for attending GA07 and was wondering if there are any poly events b4 or after the GA that would warrent my getting to Portland a day early and/or staying a day after? I missed a poly meeting b4 GA06 due to pre-arranged travel plans and want to avoid a similar situation next go around if possible.

I think the key to the forsaking all others, is not to take it too
literarlly, but also to be civil with each other if for some reason the
marriage does fall apart, which happens often enough. Sometimes I have
meaningful dreams of my ex-wife, and the kids seem to respect our ongoing
civility, even though we have been divorced for ages.

My minister did a great sermon on the book of Hosea, which touches on these
themes. Might still be available at uuc.org.

I also seem to be un-hip to what that last was supposed to mean. Poly
mindsets can allow for primary partners to change, and for those of us who
don't wait until we're married to be poly, there is no reason why changing
of primaries would not be an option.

Moreover, the monogamy mindset implies that the primary partner is not
changing--there's a reason why monogamist marriage vows include the line
forsaking all others, and even after divorce there are many who abide by
that line.
