[UUPoly-L] [RE] "What if we all did that?"

This minister is sounding more Mormon than Unitarian Universalist to me.

I'm having visions of the Stepford Wives, universal conformity, etc. This

is not the type of society I want to be a part of!!!

Alisa - to be fair to Tom Schade, I don't believe he wants to impose
uniformity and conformity. His "sin" (if it can be called that) is
   oversimplifying the issue.

His response to your application of his mother's question to same-sex
marriage is: "That doesn't count, because gay and lesbian people can't
choose who they are attracted to." Of course, that response itself ignores
   (a) bisexuals who must choose between opposite-gender lovers they can
marry and same-sex lovers they cannot, and (b) that marriage is itself a
choice, at least in this modern indivoidualist age.

As I had previously written in response to his blogs: the original
question depends on what it is that everyone might do. It is unlikely that
everyone would inevitably marry multiple partners ... but what if everyone
engaged in a process of more open and honest communication with their
partners, as I have often witnessed in both the poly and BDSM communities?
I would wager that "if everyone did that," our world would be much better
   off!
