Re: [UUPoly-L] more on the IA blog
I think that if we (UUPA, corporately) feels there is no truth behind
the "Block UUPA" theory we need to get out there and say so before this
spreads even further.
For the record, I've noted this on my Myspace.com blog entry. But I agree,
we should all make an effort to clarify this issue for our fellow UUs
Other tidbits:
1) Tom Schade, a/k/a LT, continues to post essay after essay about "why
this is important to UUs" (his latest missive). And he keeps referring to
poly advocates as "passive-aggressive." How is pointing out and correcting
errors, asking questions, and most importantly inviting him into actual
dialogue qualify as passive-aggressive behavior? Any mental-health profs
out there want to set him straight on this?
2) I found an article on poly.org which talks about needs of poly folk in
therapy, and cites studies that "nonexclusive couples" are not better or
worse than strictly monogamous ones *but* do have different personality
styles. This would be useful in responding to some of the questions being
posed by poly skeptics (people with doubts about poly, but not necessarily
hostile to us). I'm posting this on my blog, and the URL for this is:
http://www.polyamory.org/~joe/polypaper.htm
3) Talked with one of the lay leaders at Arlington Street Church about the
whole online brouhaha. She was very supportive. Our senior minister is on
vacation, but I know in talking to her that she's also quite
poly-friendly.
I still wish the UUA Board would speak directly to the IA issues they
are trying to deal with.
Amen to that! I think the whole dust-up and rumor-mongering was the
consequence of their not being very open about the entire four-year
process to begin with.
