What are we able to do about it?
Keep doing what our charter says we do, bring awareness of poly
issues to the UUs and the UUA.
Is it possible that UUism has met its match in terms of social justice issues that it just doesn't have the stomach for?
One of the things to realize is that we are no where near the only
group being targeted. In fact CUPPS has already felt the ax and they've
been an IA for a long time. Other IA have also been disaffiliated (is
that a word?). I seem to remember reading that a retired ministers
association and a Universalist association are no longer IAs. Seems the
board is trying to change the structure of the UUA itself.
We are not alone. And this type of action is one reason that some UU
associated groups choose to NOT host things like this email list on the
UUAs systems.
Are stronger efforts for understanding and acceptance now called for?
No but continued efforts certainly are.
If enforcer is right, are we just going to roll over and let the most liberal, ostensibly egalitarian religious organization in the country kick us to the curb?
Since we're not yet an IA it would be hard for them to do that. We
still exist and will continue to exist even if they disown us. We are
still UUs and we will continue to be heard in spite of the ongoing
efforts of some to silence us.
