I just read the last four days of digests. Wow, what a lot of words.
Glad I waded through them and really appreciate the differentiation
between social and sexual monogamy, but I want to go back to my first
reaction when I read these words of Kelly:
I think it's time to recognize that open marriage is not equivalent
to polyamory.
I say:
It can be (equivalent), but isn't always.
Individual partners in an open marriages (or open committed couple)
can be polyamorous or swingers or both.
People in group "marriages" are polyamorous. If their group is open,
they can be swingers or polyamorous with "outside" partners, or both
just like the people in the last paragraph.
I don't know anyone, on or off this list, who is promoting the
legalization of group marriage. (A good list of the unbelievable
complications it would create appeared on this list a couple of weeks
ago...inheritance...survivors' benefits....divorce....Egads, it hurt
my head even to read that list.)
