I have given the particulars on this experience some time ago and the posting is probably
still in the archives if you want to search it out... No sense in repeating it at the moment.
I found it humorous (a wry humor to be sure) that a UU congregation that proudly
displays the emblem of being open and accepting has strict perimeters and
parameters to what that means in it's local incarnation. This experience did bring
to mind a concept from the xtian bible: by their fruits you will know them...
Having travelled the globe and having lived, even briefly, with many societies throughout
the world I know that prejudice and intolerance is a basic human trait - in one form
or another - worldwide. It just depends upon which flavor rubs a particlar individual's
fur the wrong way at that moment in time... And life goes on...
