This was the argument from a senior pastor on a committee I spoke to years
ago. And one female gay minister on the committee also said, in essence,
don't screw up what we gay/lesbians have.

I approached one of the ministers in our welcoming congregation for advice
about this. (A member of the GLBT community, I might add.) I was shocked
at the argument that came back, something to the extent of, "there were a
lot of people in the 60s who tried sexual experiments, ruined their lives,
etc. therefore I don't want our people to be hearing about this through us."
Personally, I think you are at risk to even mention it. Your choice, but be
aware. (beware?)
