Re: [UUPoly-L] Acceptance, tolerance and liberalism

I have different experience. I was tested before taking "white collar" job. I was the only one tested just because the fact I am immigrant. My American friends who were hired without any testing didn't know how to use Microsoft office. Excel, for them, was like a space science. I helped them to start using computers proper way. It is sad but it is true. I don't want to say that I am smarter than them, it is just sad hiring policy.

That's so tragically funny!

Yeah, you can bet they had quotas to fill..
"dammit, how are we going to hire 1/3 of an oriental?"

I know many companies were like that in the 70s and 80s.
I got passed over for a government job because I wasn't oriental.
In the testing for the job, I scored WAY better than the guy they hired.

SOME day, we'll have people hired for their abilities and talents, and NOT
because they are, or aren't some particular sex or religion.
