[UUPoly-L] A change on the UUA website

While recently checking out the UUA's new website, I noticed that it has
two listings of UU email lists -- one for lists connected to uua.org, and
one for non-UUA-sponsored lists. This list is currently on the latter
   list:

I wrote to see if they would add OUUCH (the Yahoo list for UUs interested
in BDSM) to their listing. This led to an exchange of emails with Deborah
Weiner, the UUA's Director of Electronic Communication. She said that she
would not put OUUCH on the list, as it was not of "general" interest to
UUs, and that she was in fact going to drop a number of the listings
further -- including the UU Poly list.

   IMHO this raises two questions:
   1) By what criteria is a list to be considered "general" enough to
"belong" on the UUA website? Would dictrict lists not be general enough?
What about lists for ministers, DRE's and other congregational leaders?
   BGLT listings?
   2) Given that the UUA sees itself as broadly inclusive and accepting of
different views, would it not make more sense to have a diversity of
   listings made available?

I don't know how others feel about this, but if you feel moved to write to
Ms. Weiner, her email is dweiner@uua.org
