our Pride (lion grouping)?>>

Actually, in Gene Roddenberry's "Andromeda" (the Science Fiction Show
http://www.andromedatv.com/ ), the Nietzscheans
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nietzscheans call their clan-like family unit a
"Pride". Interestingly enough, Nietzcheans are matriarchal, but also
polygynous - with high status men having many wives, but the women making
all the decisions concerning breeding. ;-)

<<the Gaggle (geese grouping, usually applied to humans when they are a
mobile group of noisily talking girls)>>

Which might be an appropriate name for a patriarchal polygynous group, as
women who are submissive to a man in a group can actually evidence gaggle
type behavior ;-)

<<(ducking and running - hmm... what are a group of ducks called?>>
On land a group of ducks is a "raft" - so if your running, then that would
be a raft. In flight, they're called a "team", on water they're called a
"paddling". http://www.birdnature.com/groupnames.html

So I guess, following this logic, my household (a matriarchal polyandrous
group) would be called a pack (which I already knew - wolves, while they
follow the alpha male, are actually "ruled" by the alpha female, who is the
one who, in the long run, decides whether the alpha male actually gets to
_be_ the alpha male ;-)
