Well, I don't have a lot of notes on this part.
However, for modern links, I sited the UUPA; the Rev.
Dr. Ronald Mazur and his wonderful book "The New
Intimacy" (originally published in 1973 by Beacon
Press); and the references to 'Unitarians'in Dr.
Deborah Anapol's book "Polyamory: the New Love Without
Limits".
As for historic links, I was refering to the links of
many 18th Century Unitarians (such as Emmerson, Greely
and others) with the Utopian Community movements of
that era, the majority of which practiced some form of
expanded family or liberal sexuality. This is
especially true for the Phalanxes, which were
societies based on the theories of Charles Fourier,
but it also included groups like the Onedia Community.
Anyway, there's more information, but I need to track
it all down before my next talk in the fall.
Personally, I was fascinated to find all this stuff.
Sadly, it rarely makes it into the official bios, or
at least it gets glossed over.
Hope this helps. When I put together something more
detailed for our panel discussion in the fall, I'll
post it here or submit it to the UUPA site, if it's
too long.
