[UUPoly-L] canadian court recognizes 3 parents of 5-year-old boy
don't know if anyone saw this, but in an interesting ruling, an
appeals court in ontario has recognized the parental rights of a
mother's lesbian partner, in addition to the child's biological
father. so, the boy legally has 2 mothers and one father. the
pertinent part of the NYT article reads,
"The women in this case have been together since 1990. After they
decided to become parents, they approached a friend, a recently
separated father of two, to see if he would agree to both father a
child and play a role in the upbringing. Since the boy’s birth, the
man has entered a relationship with another woman and had a child
with her. The two families have a dinner at least once a week, the
second mother said."
the decision has some "traditional family" groups in a tizzy.
(surprise surprise)
