Re: [UUPoly-L] Dealing with Others
Hi, everyone, thanks for your thoughts. It's strange
to think about the evolution of human society and what
may have happened to make so many people think that
one man plus one woman is the "right" thing. That
combination certainly hasn't been historically the
only "right" way to do things.
Trisha, I really feel for your situation. My
girlfriend was recently placed in a similar situation;
one of her good "friends" told her she had to choose
between me and him because he just could not support
the "unhealthiness" of the situation. (He believes
I'm cheating on my husband and screwing up my kid.)
She decided that he wasn't much of a friend after all,
but it was certainly painful to her, and she is
definitely feeling a loss in her support network.
On the bright side, I got to explain to my son that
"Daddy loves R," and that is the reason why he spent
so much time with her in the hospital. My husband's
girlfriend was hospitalized, and he spent quite a bit
of time there, understandably. My son wanted to know
why, and it felt so good for me to be able to tell him
that it is love and caring and compassion--all the
good stuff--that led him to be there.
Hopefully I'm not reposting the same stories and
boring everyone to death. This thing with my
girlfriend's friends has been a huge ordeal over the
last week. Truthfully it feels like some sort of
teenage melodrama, and I'm sooooo ready to get past
all of it. Thanks for reading and for your support
and thoughts! I'm so happy to have found this list.
