Re: [UUPoly-L] Those links!!!!! Group newbie: books/resources about polyamory?
I almost threw The Ethical Slut across the room as well when I first read
it. That was because I don't think I really wanted to face the truths that
were in the initial chapters. The authors do not pull any punches, they are
in your face about polyandry. I finished the book and am glad I did. At
the time I read it I still had blinders on and this book helped me think
more effectively about Polyamory.
Incidentally, the authors of The Ethical Slut have collaborated on other
books. One I especially like is "Someone you love is Kinky". It was a good
explanation of how one's sexuality needs to be honored and nurtured but may
be different from the readers. That difference is not shameful or wrong. I
am not doing it justice. It's a good read.

You know, I've got to say, I wasn't impressed with the ethical slut. I
couldn't get through it. After being sort of disgusted by the end of
the first chapter, I skipped around a little bit to see if I was just
missing something, and pretty much found the tone of the rest of the
book to be just as disgusting, self-serving, and offensive as the
beginning. And frankly, not something I'd personally feel comfortable
telling people is a good source for relationship advice, poly or not.
Although I encourage folks to read it and form their own opinions
about it. I'm just stating my own :)
