I'd like to point out that the medical terminology used is that AN
ESTIMATED 80% of sexual active women WILL CONTRACT HPV IN THEIR
LIFETIME. Not that 80% have it at this time.

Now, you say that it's important to tell partners about it. If it's a
normal risk of sexual acts, like pregnancy, then there should be no
reason to mention it, right? However, some of us would prefer to do
what we can to stay in that 20% who may never have it, and the fact
that it IS possible to avoid it means that you're right, indeed, one
who knows they have or have been exposed to HPV should tell their
partners. And that fact is what proves that it is NOT normal.

The fact is that "normal," "common," and "epidemic" are really not
quite the same thing, even if the difference is all in the mindset.
