Re: [UUPoly-L] Flyer distribution at science fiction conventions

Great idea and thanks for going to this effort. one thing you might include, if you want to do even a little more work! is include with the flyers and trifolds a reply sheet of some sort - maybe a self addressed postal. i'm not exactly sure what could be on it, but something like a request for more information and resource links, or to be on a mailing list of events, or without asking for personal or contact information, would they mail the postal simply to show that they picked up information. it could state that the distributor of the information is interested in how many people are interested, and maybe why. it could remain anonymous but they could check a box or two and mail it. just an idea off the top of my head to keep some track of how effective it is, as you said. this would be a partial record only of course, and only or simple information about who is and/or why they are picking up the information.

might work, might not. many people would not mail the postal, but according to marketing statistics, a percentage would. you could compare that with how many flyers etc you put out that disappear and have at least a vague idea of why and who...for example, what if the postal asked why they picked up the poly info flyer with choices such as - I'm already poly; ive heard of it, wanted to know more; i'm in a poly rlshp and need info; im in a mono rlsp and think i'm poly; just curious poly sounds fun (ha ha) etc...whatever - again i'm really just saying this off the top of my head

i'm interested in the list of "cons" you are developing, that you say are appropriate for this literature. i might have something to add, if i know what the venues are.

furthermore, i'd like to see that "polyamory and liberal religion" trifold! it's not one we have in our church lobby...

thanks again for this great idea - and i agree, it would be good to know more about who is picking the info up, and why. then you might have some data to follow up on.

Best wishes
Rhea

A few weeks ago I posted here about how fast people picked up the UUPA
trifolds and other poly flyers I put out at the Arisia science fiction
con. So, I've now gone and Made It A Project.

I found lists of cons online (my God there are a lot of them). I write
and ask if they have a freebie table for flyers and where to mail
these, and so far they've always written right back giving an address.
(These are volunteer enthusiasts.) I then stuff and mail envelopes.
I'll do this at the start of each month, working a month ahead. So far
there seem to be about ten appropriate cons a month.

What I'm mailing are copies of a generic intro-to-polyamory sheet, the
UUPA "Polyamory and Liberal Religion" trifold, and where
geographically appropriate, flyers for the upcoming Loving More East,
Loving More West, and/or Polycamp Northwest gatherings.

I can add more event flyers to the mix. E-mail me yours (pdf or a
high-res scan) and I can include it if there are any nearby cons
beforehand.

I've invested some in printing and supplies and am all set up to keep
this going indefinitely. Somebody should've started this long ago, say
I.

Eventually it would be good to find some way of testing how effective this is.

Cheers,

Alan
