Hello from the presentation coordinators for the 2008 Florida Poly Retreat,
being held March 27 - 30 in Brooksville Florida!

This message is going out to all prior attendees and presenters at Florida
Poly
Retreats, some of the poly lists, as well as those who have volunteered to
present or requested information. Typically, many of our presenters have
been
"repeat performers" and we would be happy to have you back.

Please forward this message to anyone else you feel might be interested in
presenting at FPR'08.

    IN THIS MESSAGE
    ===============
I. Information for Potential Presenters
II. Suggested Presentations
III. Submitting Your Presentation

I. INFORMATION FOR POTENTIAL PRESENTERS
      ====================================

1) FPR is looking for about 25 to 30 total presentations, of which 6-9 are
"experiential" workshops and the remainder a mix of traditional
presentations,
guided discussions, Q&A, or panel-style presentations.

2) FPR is ENTIRELY a volunteer organization, so there is NO compensation for
presenters. We have a saying, "At FPR, we make presenters out of attendees,
not
attendees out of presenters!" Even the staff pays to attend. However,
presenters are guaranteed the lowest possible rate for the conference, which
is
typically the "early-bird" rate. The sole exception is our keynote speaker,
whose fees are waived.

3) Typical of prior retreats, the presentation timeslots will be 75 minutes
each, so make that your target. We can make a FEW exceptions for some of the
experiential workshops that need longer (typically by placing them in the
last
timeslot of the day).

4) Presenters must generally supply their own equipment. FPR can generally
supply a whiteboard and markers, plus of course the room with tables &
chairs.
We may have one room with an A/V projector - please note if needed in your
proposal.

5) If you are interested in doing a presentation, please submit your request
to
presentations@floridapolyretreat.com . See section III below for details.

II. SUGGESTED PRESENTATIONS
       =======================

Note the following are SUGGESTED topics only, based upon the requests and
interests expressed by our attendees. You may think of something not listed
here, which is great! Propose it!

We place the presentations and workshops into one of three categories:
Polyamory & Personal Growth, Crossover Lifestyles, and Experiential
Workshops.

Category 1: Polyamory and Personal Growth - The subjects of these
presentations
are specifically about polyamory and/or personal growth within
relationships.
FPR typically has 10-12 of these.

Popular Polyamory and Personal Growth Topics
--------------------------------------------
Interpersonal Communications in Relationship
Jealousy Management
"Coming Out" Poly / Poly Identity / Poly in Public
Personality and Polyamory
Managing Poly/Mono Relationships
Marriage and Polyamory
Personal Time Management
Balancing Individuality and Partnership
History of Polyamory
Safer Sex/STD Updates
Managing STDs in Poly Relationships
Poly Dating
Singles and Polyamory
Transitions in Poly Relationships
Overcoming Common Obstacles
Varieties of Poly Configurations

Category 2: Crossover Lifestyles - Polyamory intersects with many other
interests in our lives, and affect some of them profoundly; these
discussions
focus on those crossovers and intersections. FPR typically has 7-9 of these.

Popular Crossover Lifestyle Topics
----------------------------------
Polyamory and Parenting
Polyamory and Religion (Christianity, UUism, New Age, Paganism, etc.)
Polyamory and Swinging
Polyamory and Bisexuality
Polyamory and Homosexuality
Polyamory and Gender
Polyamory and Activism

Category 3: Experiential Workshops - These are "hands-on", activity-based
workshops. FPR typically needs 6-8 of these.

Popular Experiential Workshops
------------------------------
Safer Sex Demonstrations
Tantra & Chakra Work
Sensual Massage
Dating/Communication Skills
...plus many of the other presentations can be retooled into an experiential
workshop

III. SUBMITTING YOUR PRESENTATION
        ============================

So, give these topic suggestions some thought, or come up with your own
topic!
Think about what presentation style will work best for your subject matter,
and
remember your 75-minute target timeslot. If you are planning to repeat a
presentation you have given before, think about how you might improve upon
it
this year.

Then, write up your submission and send it to
presentations@floridapolyretreat.com! Here's the info we need:
