[UUPoly-L] cross-cultural info, please

i had this sudden brilliant thought.  i'm trying to find out how common polygamy is in a cross-cultural context for school.  and i'm not finding much.  but i know how to contact dozens of poly people!  so i'll ask you all.
my professor says that most cross-cultural research shows that polygamy is very common, possible as much or even more than monogamy.  i'd like to be able to prove this in my thesis, but i need evidence.  so if anyone knows which articles or books to look at, or websites, i would be grateful.  i already have constructing sexualities coming, although it's not here yet.  the only qualifier is that it has to be scholarly research, not anecdotal.
