Many people, from Dr. Ruth to the Bushtians are happy to call open
marriage, the polyamory of the '60's, a failed experiment. I just ask
if they call the attempts at powered flight in the decade between
1893 and 1903 failed experiment. That would be easy to do, because
there were scores of expensive, painful, disastrous attempts at
powered flight. Oh, there was one exception, but they didn't manage
to stay in the air more than a minute and went less than 1000 feet,
so the Wright Brothers don't count.
Polyamory can be looked at as a relationship technology. Its success
should be evaluated by what works, not by what doesn't (although the
latter is interesting too.)
