And I can see that point of view.  But consider, those that break into your house are there to do you harm, through direct or indirect means.  They are there to hurt you and your family or to kill you and your family or take from you those things that you spent your life to acquire.  The tangible results of your life.  They have decided to prey on human beings.  They have decided that human life is irrelevant to what they want.  They have decided that questions of right and wrong, good and evil, just and unjust are meaningless.  They have decided that death is preferable to life.  Those like that are horribly dangerous and have voluntarily removed themselves from consideration as human.  That is why I would have no ill feeling about protecting my life and my family's life in this fashion.  It becomes a choice of a rabid animal or my family living.  It is not a hard choice.
