Re: [UUPoly-L] UUPoly-L Digest, Vol 50, Issue 19
Wow. Not too many steps to dehumanizing a person with intent to harm you.
Yes, there is intent to harm, but to ride that slippery slope to rabid
animal is kind of like the thinking that equates homosexual marriage to
marrying one's dog. Not logical. I have known men and women who have hurt
others purposefully, and they are not animals. They are people who have
done bad things, and I retain hope that loving them as humans is a better
way to facilitate empathy in them than hating them as animals. People do
bad things, they are still people.
Peace.

And I can see that point of view. But consider, those that break into your
house are there to do you harm, through direct or indirect means. They are
there to hurt you and your family or to kill you and your family or take
from you those things that you spent your life to acquire. The tangible
results of your life. They have decided to prey on human beings. They have
decided that human life is irrelevant to what they want. They have decided
that questions of right and wrong, good and evil, just and unjust are
meaningless. They have decided that death is preferable to life. Those
like that are horribly dangerous and have voluntarily removed themselves
from consideration as human. That is why I would have no ill feeling about
protecting my life and my family's life in this fashion. It becomes a
choice of a rabid animal or my family living. It is not a hard choice.
