Re: [UUPoly-L] UUPoly-L Digest, Vol 50, Issue 19

It's true that poly marriage is not a high priority for poly people in general.  Personally I'd much rather see government get out of the marriage business altogether.

Though Obama-Biden didn't support same-sex-marriage (which was too great a risk - electibility surely had to be a priority), they do propose/support a broad range of initiatives that help level the playing field for LGBTQs, like repealing the Don't Ask Don't Tell policy against being openly gay in the military.  To see what I consider to be an extensive list, go to

Can we move on to something a little more substantial, please?  We voted for
Obama.  Personally I am thrilled that he got elected, since the alternative
sucked and Hillary was beaten in the primaries.  That's why we have voting,
so we can have, albeit small at times, a say in who governs us.  Obama is
not going to support gay marriage, since most of this country is too hateful
to see that it's the right thing to do.  No one is going to support poly
marriages, since no one, but a small handfull, think it's the right thing to
do, and for the record I am not one of those.  While I support the poly
lifestyle even I don't support poly marriage at this time.  There are way
too many more important issues to deal with.

Therefore start getting involved with the issues that matter.  Run for
office, campaign for better health care, jobs, banking laws, caps on CEO
salaries.  Anything but sitting in front of a computer and trying to see who
insulted who and who needs to be reported to the FBI.
