Why not a voluntary survey of readers?  That could be a beginning estimate.

We don't have any way to get a good count or even a reasonable  estimate, 
because so many poly UUs either (1) are closeted or (2) don't know we  want to 
count them. I can tell you about my congregation of 232 members. At  least 12 
are poly (5 %), and maybe more, depending on how you define it and  which day 
you ask them. Another 19+ polys used to be members but left over  the past few 
years. And these are the ones that I know about.
