Re: [UUPoly-L] "law" of attraction

I just read it.  I still embrace it.  :-)   I get that it can't be scientifically measured.  I'm still very good with that...in fact it makes me more comfortable.   I've studied it with I think a healthy balance of opennes and scepticism.   Do we really attract more of what we focus on, consciously or subconsiously?  There are quite of few physicists in the field of quantum physics ("What the Bleep Do We Know...") who seem to suggest this "law" or theory or whatever you might call it, is not without merit.  I'm split about evenly in thinking it's more about the fact we will percieve more keenly that which we do in fact focus on, and the possibility that our thoughts are magnetic in some way...after all the brain functions in part through electrical activity.  In the long run, I've decided it may not really matter so much, because being mindful of the nature of my thoughts has changed the way I experience life.  I used to experience
scarcity, and now I experience abundance much more often.  Perspective/perception or law of attraction....either way it seems I have indeed created my own reality.

By the way (inresponse to comments in the wiki article), as someone who has had several terrible tragic events in my life in the past, and spent years trying to get a handle on a chronic condition (fibromyalgia and fatigue...which I now totally do), I often resented and was offended by the idea that we attract all this.  I now to a certain point think that's actually true, but I don't ever see that as a rap to lay on a client or patient.  We can however encourage them to begin to develop a more positive out look, and find ways to be self-empowered.  Then the idea of them have more mastery over their own destiny is possible.

Before you embrace the above doctrine, I strongly
recommend that you read the Wikipedia article on the subject.

“Liberals got women the right to vote. Liberals
got African-Americans the right to vote. Liberals
created Social Security and lifted millions of
elderly people out of poverty. Liberals ended
segregation. Liberals passed the Civil Rights
Act, the Voting Rights Act. Liberals created
Medicare. Liberals passed the Clean Air Act, the
Clean Water Act. What did Conservatives do? They
opposed them on every one of those things…every
one! So when you try to hurl that label at my
feet, ‘Liberal,’ as if it were something to be
ashamed of, something dirty, something to run
away from, it won’t work, Senator, because I will
pick up that label and I will wear it as a badge
of honor.” Matt Santos, The West Wing
