Re: [UUPoly-L] Polyamory and Aging -- Polygeezers List
I have to assume I don't know how to work this list, since none of my
comments has ever been responded to.
When I send something out, it comes to my mailbox, but then, nothing.
I'm trying "respond to the whole group" to see if I get anything.

"Old is a state of mind," so far.
Yes, we can stay vital till late in life, like my father did and as I am
still able to do. But ultimately, we lose it.
An advantage is that by the time we sag, etc., we don't care. That
marvelous, mysterious drive dissipates. If we can enjoy it late in life,
fine. If not, it's still OK.
I'll add to this conversation the observation that many Poly folk are older
because it makes sense for older people more than younger. While younger
people may have more ripe beauty and drive, they're also nearer their
breeding age where monogamy and paternity are more important and potentially
disruptive. Hence, the more traditional stance regarding it in marriage.
Being past breeding age liberates us to share more. That's tricky because
we still have the remnants of possessiveness active in our chemistry, fears,
and relationships.
Congratulations to those of you who share. How to do that well and
honorably is a promising bit of progress I'm glad many of you are sharing.
