Well, I went and did it, I'm now officially a UU: joined the Unitarian
Church of Evanston Sunday morning!
A bit of news: for anyone thinking of doing the poly conference here in
Chicago, we really need support to make this happen and we've lowered the
price to $100 for the whole day and a half conference (with Friday night
parties put on by people, of course). Go to: http://chipolycon.org/ to
find out more. Unless we get enough people, drastic measures (huge
reduction or cancellation) are possible..... :-(
In other news, we have a sex positive film festival here in Chicago and the
film for tonight was "When Two Won't Do", a, a times, funny, charming,
brutally honest and gut wrenching film about a poly couple learning about
polyamory. They go and interview various folks, including the Ravenhearts
and stop by a swinger convention and a poly meeting/camping event (which
they liked more, by the way). If you get a chance to see it, it was done
well.
I was wondering if UUPA has any organizational structure that includes
"chapters", something that I could start in my church and maybe offer for
the Chicago area (to get enough critical mass). Are there any guidelines
for starting a chapter if such things exist? Any literature or speeches
done by other that they can share? I'm ready and willing to raise awareness
here in the windy city!
