I suspect it's more a case of journalists and would-be journalists becoming better at tracking down these outside "relationships".

By the way, as a side note: Is it just me or does the current rash of laughable sex scandals amongst celebrities (politicians particularly) seem to indicate that men of power are getting more and more incompetent at concealing adulterous relationships?
